If a patient works in a dry environment special considerations may have to be taken. Hydrogel lenses often dry under such conditions causing discomfort and surface deposits.
Sometimes using thicker
(0.10 mm or greater) hydrogel
lenses will minimize the
discomfort (see the hydrogel
CD for more details).
If the dryness symptom is due
to deposits or deposits alone
are a problem-frequent
replacement or disposable
lenses are a viable choice.
Rigid lenses may be required
to decrease dryness symptoms.
Any contact lens wear can be difficult under low humidity and/or windy conditions.
